Philippines approves Pfizer vaccine

The Philippines’ Food and Drug Administration on Thursday said it had authorised the emergency use of the Covid-19 vaccine from Pfizer Inc and BioNTech SE. The Pfizer-BioNTech shot, which has shown a 95 per cent success rate, is the first vaccine the Philippines has approved.

The Philippines extended travel ban

The Philippines extended on Friday (Jan 15) the ban on all travellers from over 30 countries and territories where a more contagious coronavirus variant has been detected. The ban will now remain in force until Jan 31. It includes travelers from Singapore, the United States, Britain, Japan, Australia, France, Germany, South Korea and China, including Hong Kong.
